Marco Polo referred to it as ‘the City of Heaven, the most beautiful and magnificent in the world.’ The Chinese say ‘up there is heaven, down here is Suzhou and Hangzhou.’ With so much praise you know visiting Hangzhou you will not be disappointed.

Weather: Hot wet summers, chilly dry winters. Watch out for the plum rain starting in June.

Getting around: Not much access to the West Lake so prepare to get a bus or taxi to the touristic spots.
