Nanjing

 

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province and once was the capital of China. Nanjing ‘南京‘ means Southern Capital. Situated on the Yangtze river it has played an important role in Chinese history and has many great places to explore.

Population: 8 million (aprox)

Weather: Hot humid wet summers, cold snowy winters. Spring and Autumn are very short.

Popular food: Duck blood soup

Popular districts: Gulou, Pukou, Jiangning, Xuanwu, Qinhuai

Things to do: The Nanjing City Walls, Purple Mountain, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Fuzimiao, Ming Era tombs, Porcelain Tower, Xuanwu Lake, Nanjing Massacre Museum, Librairie Avant-Garde.

Getting around: Nanjing only has a few metro lines so it’s easy to use. Most things are located near these and so it’s an easy city to navigate.
