Shenzhen

 

In the past 30 years Shenzhen has morphed from a small fishing village into one of the biggest mega cities in China. Nicknamed China’s ‘Silicon Valley’ it is a real melting pot of people and cultures from all over China. It is the perfect place to come to shop, go to the beach or experience a wide variety of cuisine.

Population: 12.5 million (aprox)

Weather: Lovely and temperate all year round, - rarely dropping below double figures. In the Summer months watch out for Typhoons.

Popular food: Dim sum, seafood

Popular districts: Luohu, Futian, Nanshan

Things to do: Shopping in Futian, OCT Loft art space, Happy Valley theme park, Window of the World theme park, Dameisha beach, Dafen Oil Painting village, Lianhuashan Park, Coco Park, Sea World, Shenzhen Bay Park.

Getting around: The public transport is really easy but be careful Shenzhen is quite sprawling.

Rent: 1 bedroom apartment ¥3-8,000
