When I first began thinking about moving to China, one of the main ways I narrowed down which cities to look at was through researching local cuisines. Every region in China has its own hugely varying delicacies, cooking techniques and unique flavours. Chongqing is famed for its mouth-numbing hotpot, Nanjing for its duck blood soup and Hong Kong for dim sum, but what is Beijing’s main culinary draw?
China is a country of epic numbers- 1.4 billion people inhabit one of the world’s largest countries. It borders a whopping 14 countries which is more then any other and stretches from the Himalayas of the west to the tropics of the east. It is a country steeped in tradition but you won’t find the Chinese people dwelling in the past too long- as its one of the fastest-growing countries in the world.
Long after the final embers of the previous night's fire had crackled and died, the shrill sound of my alarm clock cut through the still, pre-dawn air. I fumbled around for my head torch and checked my watch - 5.30AM. Upon arriving in China, I was shocked by how advanced a country it is. It is fast becoming a cashless society and life without a mobile phone would be near impossible.
In this post, I will detail the apps that you simply cannot live without in China. Many of these apps can be used on your existing phone, but to get full functionality long term if you are moving here, then I would recommend probably buying a new phone.
